This morning started out like many other mornings. I was awakened by our dogs that wanted to go outside and do their morning routine. It was about 6:30 a.m. The sun was just coming up over the mountain and it was going to be a bright and beautiful September day.
Grudgingly, I climbed out of bed to see my dogs tails wagging and their mouths panting in anticipation of being let out for their morning run. The puppy, our new Sharpei named Baby, was dancing around with the big dogs. I couldn’t tell if she had to potty or was just very excited by the larger dogs walking back and forth near our bed? I thought I better get up quick before she has an accident on the floor. Cleaning up puppy pee this early was not my idea of a great way to wake up.
Clumsily, I walked towards our utility room and towards the side entrance that led to the outside. The dogs were ready to go and came along bouncing with excitement. Trying to get the door open was a challenge, as the dogs were all positioning themselves to be the first out the door. Our dogs are a Husky/Wolf mix, Dalmation/Mix, and our new puppy the Sharpei. I wasn’t even thinking to pay attention to what might be outside my door. I was concentrating on getting the door open, with out getting trampled by the dogs. There I am in my underwear and t-shirt, trying to get the door open. As I opened the door, the dogs ran down the steps. They got about 3 feet away from the triple steps and turned on their haunches and came flying back towards the door. Thor, our Husky/Wolf mix, almost took me out trying to get back in the house. I moved quickly to the top stair as the other two dogs were flying past me. I stood there wondering what the heck that was about?
At this point, turned back towards the outside to see what had startled them so much? I had never seen them all fly back in the house so quickly like this. To say that it was unusual would be an under-statement! I was already groggy from just waking up and getting them outside. Now this?
Suddenly, I saw what had scared them! It was a tall creature about 7+ feet in height, that was covered in hair. Just as I saw the creature. It saw me, and turned and faced me on the stairs. While the creature was turning. It let out a scream like none other I have ever heard before in my lifetime. The scream cut through the morning air and hit my body. Every nerve ending in my body exploded at the sound of the scream. It struck at the core of my being, and struck a primal urge of flight or fight. Except now I was frozen to this top step. I was unable to move. Unable to do anything but stare at the creature before me.
Tears poured from my eyes, snot began to seep from my nose. This was no ordinary cry. It was a downright bawl session. I couldn’t control it and I couldn’t stop. True fear had taken control of my senses and my muscles. I was paralyzed to that top step of the stairs leading into our side entrance. I remember thinking, ’This is how I am going to die!’
This all happened in a matter of seconds, and I cant accurately say how long. It all happened so quickly. But I have always wondered if she screamed at me to warn the others, or was maybe covering for the others to get away? I think this because our meeting that morning lasted so long. I keep thinking there must be a reason that I am not seeing right now?
At this point, I actually looked up again to find the creature still standing in the same spot just looking at me. We made a long eye contact, and continued to look at one another for quite a while. I think the creature was just as surprised to see me as I was to see her. Yes, it was a she. More on that in a minute.
Looking into her eyes, they were large and dark in color. However, there was no malice or anger there. They held a very humanlike quality that stunned and amazed me even more. I was looking into the eyes of a creature that was neither human nor animal. Her face was covered in light wisps of hair that started just below the cheekbones and continued down around her mouth and lips. In the morning light, the reflection of the sun almost gave them a tint of white or lighter color to the hair. Around her mouth and lips, the hair looked shorter and almost bristly in texture.
Her mouth was wide with thinner but lips. Her nose was flatter with a round small tip on the end, with a wide set of nostrils. The nostrils were rounded and almost looked flared in nature. Above her eyes was a brow ridge that ran the width of her forehead. It was pronounced and clearly visible. She had no hair around her eyes or on her forehead. I could clearly see the dark coloring of her skin, that was a rich dark brownish black. In the morning sunlight, her skin gave off a light shine that almost looked gray in nature. Clearly though, I could see that her skin was not gray, but just reflecting the light. This may be a reason that so many people claim they have gray skin? It was simply the light reflecting on the dead skin cells.
Her head was rounded at the top, and looked almost cone like in nature. On her head she had hair that was brownish black in color and was about 6-8 inches in length. This hair covered most of her body. The wind was coming up from the south that morning and hitting almost directly in the face. I was able to see the shape of her head quite clearly. She appeared to have almost no neck that was visible. It was like her head was planted directly onto her massive shoulders. I don’t remember seeing any ears, but they may have been covered by the hair. To be honest, I don’t think I was really looking for ears. I was more attuned to looking at her face, and absorbing what was standing before me.
While looking at her, we occasionally made eye contact. I couldn’t and wouldn’t hold her gaze for too long, except once. Somehow, it popped into my head from watching a show on the Discovery Channel about apes and how your not suppose to make eye contact. But- I couldn’t help it. I kept being drawn to her eyes, and how human they looked. It was amazing to see first hand and in person.
I began to check out the rest of her body. She had long arms that hung below her waist, and were covered with the same 6-8 inch hair. The hair also covered the top side of her hands and lightly on the tops of her fingers. Her palms were bare, and she held them in a cupped manner by her hips. The arms were thick and muscular. The wind was blowing lightly and moving the hair on her arms and I could see the well built muscles in her upper and lower arms.
Her shoulders were thick and muscular as well, and had to stretch a good 3 feet across from shoulder to shoulder. She was thick and barrel chested in nature. She narrowed at the waist. While I was looking at her. I noticed that she had breasts. I think I stared at them for a bit to be honest because I was just surprised to see that she had them. The hair on her body covered the top portion of each breast, but the main part of each breast and nipples had no hair. Her upper body was thick and muscular and she looked to have very little fat on her body. She was very well built. Her muscle structure was obvious beneath her hair.
Looking down, her legs were thick and massive and covered with more of the same hair that covered the rest of her body. Again, I was able to see the large muscles in her legs as the wind blew her hair around. The hair continued all the way down her legs and covered the tops of her large feet.
One of the things, that I noticed that morning while watching her. Her hair was dark in color, but in the morning light. It gave off a reddish tint of color. But looking at her overall hair it was a dark brownish black in color. None of her hair appeared to be matted, but it did look dry and stiff in nature.
At this point, I was still crying like a baby. Just before she turned to go. She gave me this quizzical look that I will never forget. It looked like she seem to be thinking, ’Why are you crying?’ It was so human like in nature that it stunned me again. I couldn’t believe what I was seeing before me. I knew she was a female Bigfoot. There was no other explanation.
As she turned to walk and continue on her way, I noticed her large left foot from the side. I remember thinking, ’So that is why they call them Bigfoot!’ They were quite large and fit her large muscular body type. They did not look out of proportion to the rest of her body. But- I could tell they were huge, because she was huge.
Her body truly was massive in size. She must have weighed in at a good 500+ pounds at least. When I saw her that morning she was coming from the north east on our property and heading southwest. When we surprised one another. She was standing near our well head for our water well. Her distance from me was about 76 feet. This was later measured by the researcher named Jim H. I had a clear un-obstructed view of her that last a couple of minutes. As she headed off to the southwest past our boat and fuel tank. She turned to look back at me one last time. I noticed that when she turned her head, that her upper body came with it. Almost like she had a stiff neck. She then turned back in the direction she was heading and lumbered over the hill and out of view.
I am not sure how long I continued to stand on that top step after she was gone? I was shaken to the core about what I had just witnessed. For many years, we have laughed and joked at the strange sounds that have come from our forest. We laughed and joked that it was Bigfoot, but we never took it too seriously. I knew then what I had just seen was the real thing. This was no bear, elk, or any other animal that I have seen a hundred times. This was a real creature that I had never witnessed before. It was a Bigfoot. Finally coming back to my senses, I ran back into the house. Running into our bedroom. I woke my partner, D, and was still crying when I said, “I think I just saw a Bigfoot! Didn’t you hear that scream?” D answered, “Yes.” While he was rolling over and falling back asleep. He didn’t take it too seriously, because we had been hearing these noises and unexplained whoops and howls for years. It was nothing new to him. This was new to me, and I needed and wanted someone to be awake with me. Out of fear or need for protection. I grabbed the spotlight from next to the bed. Not that it was going to do me any good, but I think I needed to just hold onto something. I continued to clutch this spotlight until D finally got out of bed. I was terrified and shaken by my encounter. I was not mentally prepared for what I had seen. It threw everything I knew about the natural world right out the window. My world was turned upside down. I didn’t know what to think or what to make of the situation?
For two days, I didn’t leave the house. I was still shaking and scared by this event. It took me many hours of thinking and restless evenings to realize that if she had wanted to hurt or kill me, that she could have at any time. It would have taken her only moments to reach me on the stairs. I had been paralyzed by fear and couldn’t move after her scream. It would have been her perfect opportunity to get me if she had wanted. Looking back at the situation, I realize now that she was a peaceful creature. I think I scared her as much as she scared me? I think her scream that morning was one of surprise and letting me know not to come any closer. Never in my life, have I been gripped by such a fear or cried as deeply. I had no control of my emotions after that scream hit me. I was truly frozen to that stair. I think she stayed there as long as she did, to let me know that it was alright. I also think she was just as curious of this weeping man before her, and I was just as curious of her.
Even in this fear, I knew I was witnessing some truly amazing. Her body and face will be forever etched in my mind. Since this experience, I have scoured the web and the woods for information on Bigfoot. I want answers to the many questions I now have about these creatures. There is no doubt in my mind, that I witnessed a true living Bigfoot in my back yard that morning. They are as real as you or I.
I, SRA-Jim, had visited the location a couple weeks after the encounter took place. My wife and I had spent a week out there and got to know the witness, his family, and the area fairly well. I found the witness and his family to be genuine and sincere. The witness was very shaken by the encounter and was leery of venturing out of the house. According to the witness, he had never had a problem hiking the mountainsides in the past, as it was a nearly everyday occurrence. He stated that he had encountered just about every animal that lives there, including the occasional grizzly bear. This encounter had shaken him to the core.
I had set up trail cams around the house in the trees surrounding their yard. I unfortunately did not obtain any photos other then deer and their dogs. I did try to set out some gifts to encourage something to come in close enough to get a photo or two. I had placed 5 cameras out around the north side of the house. I had started off by placing some Snickers bars on top of their wood pile to the south of their home. The first night, the Snickers disappeared. I then moved a camera to that location and set out more Snickers. The Snickers were never touched in that location again. The fourth night, I found a stump to the west of the house and placed a couple of Snickers on it with peanut butter smeared on them. I also smeared some peanut butter on the lid of the jar, screwed the lid back on, stuck it down in the hollow center of the stump, and placed a camera near the stump. Nothing happened until the cameras were pulled and we had returned home.
After that, the witness had noticed that the peanut butter as well as the Snickers were gone, and the lid had been unscrewed from the jar. He then continued to place peanut butter on the stump, and each time the jar would be opened and the peanut cleaned out. This continued for weeks until the jars disappeared. He then use ice cream buckets, and they too disappeared. So he used coffee cans. They also would go missing. One afternoon when he was up the road helping get a neighbor out of a snow drift, he noticed an ice cream bucket with a coffee can in it near a spring that flows above ground. Perhaps the peanut butter made whatever took them thirsty, and they carried them to the spring to eat it. I cannot think of any better explanation. While I was there, we had traveled to a ridge above the witness’ home and did some call blasting of recorded (supposed) sasquatch calls. We got a very clear reply (2 Whoops) from another peak to the southeast. I was unable to capture it on my recorder as there was a breeze that interfered with it.
At the time of my investigation, I was part of another organization. We are posting this report on our site because the witness chose to file his report here. We would not have posted this report on this site had the report not been filed independently with the SRA.
