Knobby is a local North Carolina name given to bigfoot in the south central part of the state. A rash of sightings that began at Carpenter's Knob, in Cleveland County, is the source of its name. Over a short period of time during the winter of 1979 there were many sightings by what seems to be an individual sasquatch that frequented near human habitation. Of course it could be that people were more inclined to come forward with bigfoot sightings during a climate of media frenzy.
Still to this day any media reports of a bigfoot sighting in this area are dubbed as Knobby returning once again.
